Our written statement under the Children First Act 2015, setting out how we keep students safe from harm while they use our service. Last reviewed: 23 July 2026.
This Child Safeguarding Statement is made by Reviseonline Limited (registered in Ireland, company no. 418387), trading as Mathslive.ie ("Mathslive", "we", "us").
We provide live online Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle Maths grinds, delivered weekly and recorded for later viewing; a written notes platform; homework and tests which are set, submitted, corrected and returned online; and a written and spoken feedback channel between the teacher and the student. Our students are located across Ireland and take part from their own homes. Most of the students who avail of our service are under 18.
This statement has been developed in line with the Children First Act 2015, Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children, the Addendum to Children First (2019) dealing with online safety, and Tusla's Child Safeguarding: A Guide for Policy, Procedure and Practice.
Mathslive is committed to safeguarding the children who use our service. Every child is treated with respect and dignity, and we will, as far as is practicable, ensure they are safe from harm while availing of our service. We recognise that child safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and we will co-operate fully with Tusla, An Garda Síochána and other agencies in the interests of children.
"Harm", as defined in the Children First Act 2015, means assault, ill-treatment or neglect of a child, or sexual abuse of a child, whether caused by a single act, omission or circumstance, or a series or combination of these, in a manner that seriously affects or is likely to seriously affect the child's health, development or welfare.
We have carried out a written assessment of any potential for harm to a child while availing of our service. Because our service is delivered online rather than in a supervised room, the risks differ from those of an in-person service and are assessed separately here. The areas of risk we identified, and the procedures we have in place to manage each, are set out below.
Grinds are taught to a whole class group, never one-to-one. Teaching is delivered by voice and screen; students are not required to appear on camera. A student's video and microphone remain under their own control at all times. Sessions are not used for any purpose other than teaching maths.
Recordings capture the teacher and the teaching material only. They are made available solely to enrolled students of that class group through their own private access, and are not published publicly.
Our platform provides a written channel through which a student may ask the teacher a question about their work. This is deliberate: it allows quieter students to seek help, and it means no personal email addresses or phone numbers are exchanged between staff and students.
Every message is confined to schoolwork, is attributed to a named sender, is timestamped, and is permanently retained. Neither the student nor the teacher can delete a message. The channel exists solely within the platform and is subject to review by the Relevant Person. Parents and guardians are informed in writing that this channel exists before their child uses it, and may request a copy of their child's messages at any time.
The teacher may record a short spoken note explaining a correction on a student's work. These recordings concern the maths on the page only, are attached to the specific piece of work, and are retained on the same basis as written feedback.
Students photograph their own written work and submit it for correction. These images are of schoolwork, not of people, and students are instructed not to include themselves or others in the photograph. Images are stored securely, are visible only to the student's own teacher and to the student, and are not used for any promotional purpose. Images of students themselves are only taken or used with consent, and we do not identify an individual student without the consent of a parent or guardian.
Each student is issued a private access link which shows only their own work, marks and messages. No student can see another student's work. Where class-wide information is shown, such as a class average, it is anonymous and only displayed once enough students have been marked that no individual can be identified.
Anyone who teaches or works with children at Mathslive is Garda vetted through the National Vetting Bureau before they begin, and references are checked as part of a safe recruitment and selection process.
Staff are given child-safeguarding information so they can recognise possible signs of harm, including harm disclosed through written messages, and there is a clear route for raising a concern with our Relevant Person, who reports to Tusla where required. Where a message raises a concern that is not about schoolwork, it is escalated to the Relevant Person rather than answered in the channel.
Student work, marks, feedback and messages are held in a secure database hosted in Ireland. Access is restricted to the student concerned and to their own teacher. Full details of what we hold and why are set out in our Privacy Notice.

As a registered teacher, Carl Lynch is a mandated person under the Children First Act 2015 and is obliged to report concerns of harm above the defined threshold to Tusla, and to assist Tusla, if requested, in assessing such a concern.
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child availing of our service, please contact our Relevant Person at the details above. Concerns that reach the threshold for reporting will be reported to Tusla. If a child is in immediate danger, contact An Garda Síochána without delay. You can also report a concern directly to Tusla — see tusla.ie.
This statement is provided to all staff. It is published on our website and is available to parents and guardians, to Tusla and to members of the public on request. It will be reviewed at least once every 24 months, or sooner if there is a material change to our service or to relevant guidance.
