The biggest thing I give you is time.

Live weekly Maths grinds with Carl Lynch. A bit of theory, a question, then time to actually do it — and you find out if you've got it while I'm still in the room. More care than school. Less pressure than school.

What a grind is

You don't watch maths. You do it.

Every single class runs the same honest rhythm — because that's how maths actually sticks.

01 · Theory

A bit of theory

Carl works the idea on the board — the method, the way it should be taught.

02 · Question

A question

Then a real exam-style question goes up. Your turn.

03 · Time

Time to do it

The bit nobody else gives you: silence, and time to actually attempt it.

04 · Answer

The answer

Then the full solution — so you know if you got it, while it's still hot.

More care than school

Looked after, personally.

  • Homework corrected by hand, with a comment and a mark.
  • Email a question anytime — answered, or worked at the next grind.
  • Four tests first term. Two days a week becomes three into June.
  • Two grinds before each paper. Constant contact.
Less pressure than school

Treated as an adult.

  • It's not school. Everything's optional — nobody chases you.
  • Your mark is yours — show your parents, or don't.
  • Live, in real time — you and Carl, the way a grind should be.
  • The odd quiet nudge — "haven't seen you in a while, all okay?"

Why the notes work

Your level. Your speed. Not mine.

Thirty-four years went into these. They don't sit still on a page — they come to life as you set the pace, on any device.

  1. 01Get the theory.
  2. 02Find an example.
  3. 03Pen out — try it yourself.
  4. 04Stuck? Help is one click away.
  5. 05The solution reveals one step at a time.

Try it now · one click at a time

Solve  x² − 5x + 6 = 0

Pen out. Have a go — then reveal as much as you need.

Two numbers that multiply to 6 and add to −5: that's −2 and −3.
Factor it: (x − 2)(x − 3) = 0
Each bracket equals zero, so x = 2 or x = 3.

This is exactly how every example in the notes works.

You won't find a set of notes like this anywhere else. Same as in the grind: you're given time. And time is the one thing the exam never gives you. So here's a simple maths problem — how do you buy time? You buy it here. At your pace, before the clock ever starts.
