Privacy Notice.

How we collect, use and protect personal data in the Mathslive grinds and homework service — including photographs of schoolwork, voice notes and messages involving students under 18. Last updated: 24 July 2026.

Who we are

The Mathslive service is operated by Reviseonline Limited (registered in Ireland, company no. 418387), trading as Mathslive.ie ("Mathslive", "we", "us"). Reviseonline Limited is the data controller for the personal information described here. For anything about your data, contact Carl Lynch at info@mathslive.ie or on 086 065 9817.

This notice covers the Mathslive grinds and homework service. Revise.ie supervised study is a separate service with its own privacy notice.

The information we hold

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

We do not use this data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to build automated profiles or make automated decisions about students.

Students under 18

Most Mathslive students are children. We rely on a contract with the parent or guardian rather than on the child's consent, so that a child is never asked to consent to their own data being processed. Where we ever rely on consent, we seek it from a parent or guardian for students under 16. Our handling of children's data sits alongside our Child Safeguarding Statement.

Who can see it

The student sees only their own work, marks, feedback and messages. The relevant teacher sees the work of their own class groups only, and teaching staff are kept fully separate from each other's classes. No other student, and no third party, is given access. A class average, if shown, is anonymous and only appears once enough students are marked that no individual can be identified.

Where it's kept, and how it's protected

Data is held in our database and private file storage hosted by Supabase in Ireland (eu-west-1), and emails are sent through Resend. The storage is private and served only through our own secured server; the public part of the site can read none of it. Access to the underlying data is restricted to the Relevant Person.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service: Supabase (secure database and file storage, hosted in the EU/Ireland), Netlify (website and server hosting), Resend (sending welcome and notification emails), and TrainerCentral (delivery of the live grinds and recordings). Where any processor operates servers outside the EU, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. We may also disclose data where required by law.

How long we keep it

Photographs of schoolwork, corrected pages, marks and voice notes are kept for the current school year and through the results and appeals period, and then deleted by the end of the following academic year, or sooner on request. Messages are retained while the student is enrolled and for a defined period afterwards as part of the safeguarding record. The device record is kept only while a link is active and is cleared when a new link is issued. A student's name and enrolment email are kept while the account is active and for our normal business-records period afterwards.

Your rights

A student, or their parent or guardian, has the right to access the data we hold, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email info@mathslive.ie and we will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), Ireland's supervisory authority.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice we will post the new version here and, for anything significant, tell enrolled families directly.
